Job Description

Spotify is hiring a Full Stack Engineer to join the Spotify Advertising Team. We are hiring on our Ads Data Store and CareML squads. Our teams are responsible for building and maintaining critical systems that power advertising data, brand safety, content review, and AI-driven ad experiences across Spotify.

We are looking for engineers who are motivated by user and business problems as much as technical challenges, and who enjoy ambiguity, brainstorming, experimentation, and iteration. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, business partners, and leadership to build impactful solutions for Spotify listeners, advertisers, and creators.

What You'll Do

  • Build, maintain, and evolve backend services and APIs that support advertising data platforms, content and ad categorization, and AI-powered initiatives.
  • Lead development on front-end products owned by the squad, including tools for moderation, review, and advertiser-facing workflows.
  • Build and support an annotation application that allows moderators to flag sensitive podcast content, enabling trust and safety at scale.
  • Deliver UX optimizations that improve ad and content review efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop interfaces that allow advertisers and internal users to interact with AI-powered creative and categorization systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering squads across Spotify to provide high-quality data solutions, shared knowledge, and best practices.

Who You Are

  • You are an experienced Full Stack Engineer with 5+ years of professional experience
  • You have experience building and maintaining APIs and services at scale.
  • You have strong experience with Java and Spring
  • You have strong experience with JavaScript. Additional experience with tools and technologies such as ReactJS, NodeJS, NextJS, and GraphQL are a plus.
  • You have some experience with data engineering concepts and tools (e.g., Scala, large-scale data pipelines).
  • You have experience with GCP, distributed systems, machine learning platforms, or generative AI integrations
  • You have a strong grasp of design patterns, data structures, and distributed and web architectures.
  • You care deeply about observability, reliability, and quality, and you apply engineering best practices including testing automation.
  • You have experience leading or contributing to large codebase refactors, including microservices or micro-frontend architectures.
  • You are autonomous, take ownership of your work, and actively drive your personal growth.
  • You value team success over personal success and enjoy uplifting and mentoring other engineers.
  • You are a strong communicator and empathetic collaborator who can anticipate partner needs and work effectively across disciplines.

Where You'll Be

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, it can be within the North America region in which we have a work location.
  • This team collaborates across the Eastern Standard time zone, Pacific Standard time zone, and Australian Eastern time zone.

The United States base range for this position is $132,949.00 - 189,927.00 plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. This range encompasses multiple levels. Leveling is determined during the interview process. Placement in a level depends on relevant work history and interview performance. These ranges may be modified in the future.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
