Job Description

Nanny / Family Assistant

A professional family splitting time between Manhattan and Amagansett is seeking an experienced, proactive Nanny / Family Assistant to support their household and care for their bright, social two-year-old daughter. The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with toddlers and has a strong understanding of child development, particularly as their daughter prepares to transition into preschool.

This is a hybrid role for a nanny who can seamlessly balance exceptional childcare with light family assistant responsibilities. The ideal candidate is organized, educationally minded, and comfortable partnering closely with hands-on parents. The family values curiosity, learning, and developmental growth and would love to find someone who enjoys discussing child development, sharing educational resources, and helping support age-appropriate milestones. They are also expecting in December.

Details and Schedule:

  • Full-time position based between Amagansett and Manhattan
  • Monday–Friday, 9:30am–6:30pm
  • Occasional flexibility to stay later in the evening when needed (typically once or twice per month)
  • When additional evening hours are required, the nanny will be given a later start time the following day
  • Family will be based in the Hamptons from July 1 through September 15, with the possibility of remaining through November due to construction in their Manhattan residence
  • Position will begin in the Hamptons, with an anticipated start date in August or September, though the family is open to hiring sooner for the right candidate
  • Family hopes to hire in June and can accommodate candidates who need to begin work within the next few weeks
  • Current nanny is still in the role and can help facilitate a smooth transition
  • Live-in accommodations provided while in the Hamptons
  • Candidate may choose to live-in during the work week and commute home on Friday or remain in residence full-time while in the Hamptons
  • Once the family transitions back to Manhattan, the position will become live-out

Responsibilities:

  • Providing attentive, developmentally focused care for one two-year-old child
  • Planning engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, curiosity, and independence
  • Supporting preschool readiness and developmental milestones
  • Preparing healthy meals and snacks for the child
  • Children's laundry and organization of child-related spaces
  • Maintaining organized play areas, nursery spaces, and children's belongings
  • Scheduling and coordinating classes, activities, and play opportunities
  • Assisting with calendar management and sharing scheduling information with parents
  • Light household support and tidying related to maintaining a well-run home environment
  • Collaborating closely with parents and adapting to changing household needs
  • Travel with family

Qualifications:

  • Educated, articulate, and professional
  • Calm, emotionally intelligent, and proactive personality
  • Comfortable working alongside parents who are frequently present in the home
  • Organized and capable of independently managing schedules and activities
  • Interested in discussing child development and partnering with parents on educational goals

Requirements:

  • Extensive toddler experience required
  • Background in Early Childhood Education, child development, nursery school education, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of developmental milestones and preschool readiness
  • Fluent English with excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to travel locally between Manhattan and Amagansett residences
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Long-term mindset and commitment preferred
  • Drivers License
  • Can swim
  • Able to travel

Salary and Benefits:

  • $105,000–$130,000 annually DOE
  • Live-in accommodations provided while in the Hamptons, including a private bedroom, living area, and ensuite bathroom
  • PTO, Sick Days, Holidays, travel expenses paid
